Night Watch helps you work out what a vessel is from the lights or day shapes you can see, with the Navigation Rules behind each answer. It works with no signal, which matters on the water at night.
There is no account, and almost nothing to keep
You do not sign in and nothing about you is collected. There is no database of ours, no cloud sync and no backend.
What is stored, on your device
One thing: whether the app is unlocked, so it does not have to ask the App Store every time it opens.
That is genuinely the entire list. Nothing records what you identified, when, or where. The app asks for no location permission, which is worth saying plainly for an app used on a boat: it does not know where you are and is not built to.
Who else is involved
Apple, and nobody else. The unlock is a one-time purchase made through the App Store, so Apple handles the payment and tells the app only that the purchase exists. Apple never receives anything you entered.
There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking software of any kind. There is no language model. There is no server of ours for anything to be sent to.
The one moment anything leaves
The app has a link to the US Coast Guard's own site, because the official source should always be one tap away. Tapping it opens your browser, and what happens then is between you and the Coast Guard under their policy. The app sends nothing with you and is not told that you went.
Deleting it
There is no account to close and nothing of yours to erase. Deleting the app removes it and the one stored flag. Your purchase is held by Apple rather than by us, so reinstalling and tapping Restore brings the unlock back without paying again.
