Pantry privacy policy
Last updated 11 September 2026.
Pantry starts from what you already have and what expires first, rather than from a menu. This policy explains what is kept.
Your item list is sent to Anthropic to suggest a meal
This is the part you are least likely to assume, so it is here rather than at the bottom. When you ask for a suggestion, the items you have on hand are sent to a large language model run by Anthropic, which proposes what to cook. If you photograph a receipt, that image is sent to be read as well.
Nothing is sent unless you ask for a suggestion or photograph something. Adding an item by hand stays on our database.
What a food list can reveal
Worth saying plainly: what somebody eats can imply a religion, a health condition or a household size. We do not analyse your list for any of that, do not segment or profile you on it, and never sell or share it. It exists to answer one question, which is what to cook tonight.
What is stored
- Your email address, and whether your subscription is active.
- Every item you have, with quantity and any expiry date.
- The suggestions made, so you are not offered the same thing repeatedly.
- Receipts you photograph and the items read out of them.
What is not stored
No password, because there is not one. Signing in is by a code sent to your email address. No grocery store account, no loyalty card, no purchase history from any retailer, and no payment details.
Who else is involved
- Anthropic receives your item list when you ask for a suggestion, and any receipt you photograph.
- Supabase hosts the database and sends the sign in codes.
- RevenueCat sits between the app and the app store and tracks whether your subscription is active. It receives the purchase events and an identifier for your account.
- Apple handles the payment itself. Card details go to Apple and never to us.
Deleting it
Deleting your account removes your profile, every item, suggestion and receipt, immediately and unrecoverably.
