Paper Trail turns the pile of paperwork into facts with dates, and warns you before something lapses. This policy explains what is kept.
Everything you photograph is sent to Anthropic to be read
This is the part you are least likely to assume, so it is here rather than at the bottom. The whole point of the app is reading documents, and that reading is done by a large language model run by Anthropic. Every image you add is sent in full.
Because the app takes whatever paperwork you have, that can be a wider range of information than you intended in the moment: an insurance policy carries a policy number, a receipt can carry the last four digits of a card, a warranty carries your address. Photograph the document you want tracked, and cover anything on it you would rather not send.
What is stored
- Your email address, and whether your subscription is active.
- Every document image you add, kept so you can find the original again.
- The structured record read out of each one: what it is, what it covers, and the dates that matter.
- Alerts for expiry, and a record of reminders sent so the same one is not sent twice.
What is not stored
No password, because there is not one. Signing in is by a code sent to your email address. Nothing is asked for as a field beyond what you choose to photograph, and no payment card details ever reach us.
Who can see it
You, and nobody else using the app. Every table checks the signed in account against the owner of the row before returning anything. There is no household or shared view. We do not sell any of it, we do not send it to advertisers, and we do not analyse your documents for anything except the dates you asked us to track.
Who else is involved
- Anthropic receives every document you photograph.
- Supabase hosts the database and sends sign in codes.
- Resend delivers reminder emails, and receives your email address and the contents of that reminder.
- RevenueCat sits between the app and the app store and tracks whether your subscription is active. It receives the purchase events and an identifier for your account.
- Apple handles the payment itself. Card details go to Apple and never to us.
Deleting it
Deleting your account removes your profile, every document image, every record and every alert, immediately and unrecoverably. If a document is the only copy you have, save it elsewhere before you delete.
