Signal Check support

Last updated 15 September 2026.

Signal Check is an agreement between one parent and one teenager: limits and commitments proposed and accepted rather than imposed, plus a place to check in. Both people have their own account, and both see the same thing.

This is not the Signal messaging app

Signal Check has no connection to Signal, the encrypted messenger, or to the organisation behind it. Different app, different publisher, unrelated purpose.

Why the term you proposed is not in force

A term one of you proposed does nothing on its own. It is in force only once both of you have accepted the current wording. Proposing is agreeing to your own proposal and nothing more, and accepting twice changes nothing, so neither of you can push a term through alone. Either of you can propose a term and either can counter one; the screen says whose turn it is.

Why editing the wording reset the agreement

Changing the text of a term clears every acceptance except that of whoever changed it, and it goes back to waiting. Without that, a term agreed at 10pm could be quietly edited to 9pm and stay marked as agreed. The rule lives in the database rather than in the app, so it holds whichever screen the change came from.

Proposing a change to a term already in force does not touch it either. The existing term keeps running, and your change appears as a separate proposal.

A term that loosens on a date

A term can carry an agreed future change: what it becomes, and the date it becomes it. You both agreed to that change when you agreed the term, so it applies without a fresh negotiation. It takes effect when the app is next opened rather than at midnight on the dot.

Can a parent see more than a teenager?

No. Every table is read through one rule scoped to the pair, with no reference to which of you is asking, so no query in this app returns more to a parent than to a teenager. The terms, their history, the check ins, the schedule and who ended what are visible to both, and the tab bar is identical.

Check ins cannot be edited or deleted by anyone, including whoever wrote them.

Ending it

Either of you can drop a single term, and either of you can end the whole agreement. That includes the teenager. Consent that cannot be withdrawn is not consent. The other person is told who ended it, and what happens next is a conversation between the two of you: the app does not take a side and will not try to talk anybody out of it.

Either of you can also delete your own account from inside the app, which ends your side of the pair. It cannot be undone and we cannot recover it.

What Signal Check never collects

It does not read messages, see browsing, track location, list installed apps, count screen time, log calls, or look at photos or contacts. None of that is a setting left switched off: there is nowhere in the database to put any of it, and the app asks your phone for no permissions at all, which a teenager can check in their own Settings.

Age

Signal Check is for 13 and over. We ask rather than verify, and no date of birth is stored, because keeping one would mean collecting the thing the question exists to avoid.

What it does not do

  • No notifications. Nobody is told a term was proposed, so a suggestion can sit unseen until the other person opens the app.
  • No Screen Time or Digital Wellbeing integration.
  • One teenager per agreement. A second child needs a second pair.

Your data

Signing in is by an emailed code, so there is no password. Stored: an email address and display name for each of you, the pair and who is which party, invite codes, the terms, and the check ins. The full policy is at carrierpress.com/signalcheck/privacy. The hosting provider that holds the database and sends the codes is the only other party involved. Nothing either of you writes goes to an AI model, and there is no advertising and no tracking.
