Trade Desk is quote, job, invoice and paid for one person with a van. It is built to be used in a driveway, a basement or a crawlspace, so the work is recorded on the phone first and sent on when there is a signal.

Why it works with no signal, and what "changes waiting to send" means

Every job, line item and invoice is written to your phone immediately. Account shows how many changes have not reached the server yet, with a Send now button to push them without waiting.

Until then the record exists only on that phone, so before changing phones, get a signal and let that count reach zero.

Why my invoice says "Draft, not numbered yet"

Invoice numbers are assigned by the server, never by the phone. If the phone numbered them, invoices raised underground could collide with ones raised elsewhere, and two different invoices would share a number in somebody's books. That is a bookkeeping problem that turns up at tax time, so the app says the number is not assigned rather than inventing one you might quote to a customer. It takes its number the next time the phone has a signal.

A voided invoice keeps its number and leaves a gap. An accountant reads a gap as one that was voided, and a reused number as something worse.

Why a card link needs a signal

A queued link is a link the customer was promised and did not get, and you would find out a fortnight later when you chased the money. So it refuses rather than queues. The invoice itself is already saved.

How the money reaches you

Customers pay through Stripe, into your own connected Stripe account, and payouts go to your bank. We never hold your money and we take no percentage of it. Card numbers go to Stripe and never to us, and an invoice is marked paid by the payment itself rather than by the phone. If the Account screen says Stripe is not connected yet, the address on that screen is how to get it set up.

What happens when the subscription ends

Everything already in the app stays readable, and unpaid invoices can still be collected. What stops is creating new jobs. Holding outstanding invoices behind a lapsed subscription would be taking your money.

If the subscription cannot be checked because there is no signal, you keep working. Being blocked in a basement over an unverifiable subscription would happen on exactly the days the app is needed.

Tax

Tax is worked out once on the taxable subtotal, not line by line and added up, because the two do not always agree. Set your usual rate in Account. If a rate is typed in a way that cannot be read, the previous rate is kept rather than dropping to zero, since a silent zero is tax you owe and did not collect.

Subscription

The subscription is bought through your Apple ID, and its current price is on the purchase screen inside the app, which reads it from the App Store for your country. What customers pay you for real work is not an in-app purchase and never goes through Apple.

Manage or cancel at Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the renewal and leaves the current period running out; we cannot cancel it for you. Apple is the merchant of record, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your data, and your customers'

There is no password; signing in is a code sent to your email address. Stored: that address, your jobs and line items, your invoices and whether they were paid, and whatever customer details you typed into a job. We never contact your customers and never sell their details. Your phone is never asked where it is; a job has an address because you typed one.

Deleting your account removes your profile and every job, invoice and payment record. Changes the phone has not yet synced go too, and the app warns you before it happens. You may need invoices for your own tax records, so keep what you need first. The full policy is at carrierpress.com/tradedesk/privacy.
