Vet Pocket keeps your pet's weights, treatments and booster dates, and helps you work out whether something needs a vet now or can wait until morning, with what to ask when you ring and a rough idea of what each path costs.
It is not a vet
Vet Pocket helps you decide whether to make a call. It does not decide anything about your animal. It does not diagnose or prescribe. If you are worried enough to be asking, ringing your vet or an emergency clinic is always the right move: they triage over the phone for free, and you do not need this app's agreement to go.
Why there is no "everything is fine"
The gentlest answer is Watch closely, and it always comes with the specific things that would change it. No outcome means your animal is fine: being wrong about that at two in the morning is not the same size of mistake as being cautious.
Why it does not name a condition
It describes the pattern being worried about rather than naming an illness. An owner remembers a named condition and repeats it, and a wrong one sends you into a consultation arguing the wrong case.
Why some descriptions always come back as go now
A short list of presentations is treated as an emergency whatever else is going on: a cat straining to urinate, unproductive retching with a swollen abdomen, seizures, collapse, difficulty breathing, trauma, suspected poisoning, bleeding that will not stop, a stalled birth. When one is recognised in what you typed, the answer says so.
The list is applied generously. If your description matches it and the situation turns out to be less serious, that is the intended direction to be wrong in.
The cost ranges are not quotes
They are rough ranges to help you choose between paths. No clinic is bound by them, and prices vary by area and by time of night.
What you type is sent to Anthropic
When you ask, what you describe about your pet is sent to a large language model run by Anthropic and the answer comes back. Nothing is sent unless you ask: recording a weight or a treatment involves no model at all.
If it cannot answer
An error, an outage and a lapsed subscription all produce the same reply: ring your vet or the nearest emergency clinic. Records and reminders stay readable when a subscription lapses; what stops is asking a new question.
Answers cannot be edited or deleted
An answer is kept as it was given. What the app said about your animal is a record, and a record you can quietly amend afterwards is not one.
Weights, boosters and reminders
A change of ten percent or more against an earlier reading is noted as something worth mentioning at the next appointment. That is an observation about your own numbers, not an opinion about what caused it.
Treatments carry a suggested interval, and reminders arrive a week before something is due, which is enough time to book. Marking one done recounts from today, not from the day it was due, so worming the dog two weeks early moves the next date rather than keeping the old one.
Subscription
The subscription is bought through your Apple ID, and its current price is on the purchase screen inside the app, which reads it from the App Store for your country. Manage or cancel at Settings › your name › Subscriptions; cancelling stops the renewal and leaves the current period running out. If you reinstall or change device, use Restore purchase. Apple is the merchant of record, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your data
There is no password; signing in is a code sent to your email address. Stored: that address, each pet and its details, weights and treatments with their dates, and each question with what came back. No practice records, no insurance details and no microchip number.
It is a single account with no vet view and no sharing. Deleting it removes your profile and every pet, weight, treatment and answer, immediately and permanently. The full policy is at carrierpress.com/vetpocket/privacy.
