Fluent Hour gives you one spoken situation a day, about ten minutes, with someone patient on the other end. No lessons, no gems and nothing to keep alive.
Why it says "That was today's"
One conversation a day is the method, not a limit you can buy your way out of. The cap applies to subscribers exactly as it applies to everyone else, and it is deliberate: another hour now would not make you more fluent, and coming back tomorrow is the part that does.
Why it hardly ever corrects you
At most one correction per turn, and usually none. A correction appears only when what you said would have changed whether a listener understood you, or when it is a mistake you have now made more than once. Wording that was merely unidiomatic but clear is left alone, and the conversation carries on either way.
An empty Corrections list is not a lack of feedback. Being corrected constantly is what makes a learner stop risking sentences, and a learner who stops risking sentences stops learning to speak.
Pronunciation is never corrected. Fluent Hour reads a transcript from your phone's speech recogniser and cannot hear you, so what looks like a mispronunciation is very often the recogniser's own error.
Where your voice goes
Your phone does the listening and the speaking. Fluent Hour asks for recognition to happen on the device itself, which is possible when the language you are practising is installed on your phone for offline use.
When it is not installed, the phone falls back to Apple's or Google's own recognition, which means the audio leaves your device. The practice screen says so at the bottom whenever that is the mode in use. Fluent Hour falls back rather than refusing, because a learner without the offline language pack still deserves a working app, but not while being told it is private when it is not.
The language you are practising is the one set on your account, and the practice screen names it at the top.
What you said is then transcribed to text, and that text is sent so a reply can come back; there is no conversation without it. Audio is not kept afterwards, and there is no voiceprint, no speaker model and no recording of you on our servers.
It did not hear me
Tap the button to start listening and tap it again when you have finished speaking. A silence is treated as somebody thinking rather than as a failure, so nothing is reported and nothing is lost. If your phone cannot do speech recognition at all, the app says so on the scenario screen.
Progress counts minutes, not days in a row
The Progress tab shows minutes spoken out loud, how many conversations they came from, and every correction you have had. There is no streak anywhere in the app. A streak measures attendance and punishes a missed day.
Subscription
You get a few conversations before the purchase screen appears. That screen shows the plans available and what each costs, read live from the App Store for your country rather than repeated from a web page.
Managing or cancelling
Billing runs through your Apple ID, so managing or cancelling happens at Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the renewal and leaves the current period running to its end. We cannot cancel it for you and cannot see your payment details.
Restoring a purchase
After a reinstall or a new device, use Restore purchase on the purchase screen. If a restore finds nothing, check you are signed in with the same Apple ID that bought it.
Refunds
Apple is the merchant of record, so refunds are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your data
Signing in is a code sent to your email address; there is no password, no name, no age and no location. Fluent Hour keeps each session, its scenario, when it happened and how long it ran, and each turn as text. There is no teacher view, no class and no leaderboard.
Deleting your account from the Account tab removes your profile and every session and turn with it, immediately and permanently. The full policy is at carrierpress.com/fluenthour/privacy.
